Converga was able to successfully manage inbound and outbound mail and couriers on a daily basis for Precinct Properties.
Precinct Properties is the largest owner and developer of premium inner-city business space in Auckland and Wellington. Its latest flagship success is the transformational Commercial Bay, set on Auckland’s waterfront and home to the highest concentration of the finest retail and hospitality vendors in the city centre.
Canon knew right from the beginning of its relationship with Precinct that for such a high-calibre client, only a premium solution would suffice when it came to providing market-leading print, mail and courier services to tenants in the development. In total, the Commercial Bay precinct comprises five connected high-rises, including the striking new PwC Tower, and hosts more than 10,000 office workers.
As the developer of such a world-class space, Precinct recognised it needed to partner with an experienced provider of print, mail and courier services to support its tenants. A key criterion for selection of the partner was its ability to make provision for the tenants to expand services directly, as required, to support their operational processes within the new location.
It was important to Precinct that the chosen provider shared its vision of bringing together the very best of everything on one site – a commercial space of the highest quality with a striking urban design, public spaces and retail and hospitality environments that were of international standard, and efficient public transport.
Precinct chose to partner with Canon and its subsidiary Converga – leaders in business process outsourcing — to design, build and implement state-of-the-art on-site managed print, mail and courier services. This involved conducting strategy and design workshops to identify key drivers for the vision of the Commercial Bay project and to research and learn from similar commercial developments around the globe where market-leading operational models had been pioneered.
The final result was a bespoke solution purpose-built to achieve the desired aesthetics and compliance with the building security requirements to ensure seamless business operations.
At the core of Canon’s service is a team of experienced staff located on-site delivering a centralised mail and courier service to Commercial Bay tenants. This leaves them free to focus on their businesses rather than being involved in the time-consuming daily activity of managing print, mail and couriers.
As a flexible operational model, this also lays the foundation for the delivery of on-premise services to further support tenants, such as valet assistance and managing third-party suppliers.
Through the Canon Print Services Centre in the basement of Jarden House – one of the towers in the Commercial Bay precinct – tenants are able to outsource their printing requirements via a simple online portal. Canon owns and operates the service, so the tenants do not need to worry about overheads, staffing or any capital costs.
Canon’s skilled personnel use best-in-class production devices to offer a vast range of print media and finishing capabilities. From business cards to brochures, retail signage to rendering and everything in-between, tenants can discuss any specialty requirements with the staff, and also select from advanced templates online.
The online print portal allows tenants to upload various types of work and submit them directly to the print services centre. Live quoting displays accurate pricing and a large range of media and finishing options. Tenants are provided with personalised logins, allowing them to view job-status updates and to receive email notifications on progress.
The most important thing from day one, and what impressed Precinct, was Canon’s partnership approach and the ability to understand the vision the client had. What Precinct achieved with the Commercial Bay development is a truly world-class, open and efficient floorplan that, in the eponymous high-rise, encompasses a three-level retail centre and a 39-level office tower above it, from where clients can contact Canon directly for managed services and business technology requirements.
Canon with Converga has a reputation for efficiency and proven delivery, which leaves clients free to focus on driving their businesses forward.
With robust management experience and operational excellence, Canon can reduce the time, money and effort that clients put into managing their non-core activities. There can be a number of barriers that companies face when looking to recruit the appropriate staff and Canon has processes in place to manage the transition. Its internal culture focuses on customer service, continuous development and employee wellness, meaning it has a high staff-retention rate.
Canon welcomes the opportunity to discuss with interested businesses any of the following services it provides on-site at Commercial Bay:
The shared mail and courier services will be run by Canon from the ground floor of the PwC Tower. The team will manage inbound and outbound mail and couriers daily for Precinct Properties’ corporate tenants.
The centre, in the basement of Jarden House, provides a wide range of printing and finishing options, ranging from business cards and A4/A3, through to large-format printing. Canon’s user-friendly online portal allows customers to upload jobs and select their required quantities, media and sizes. The portal can also be used to get quotes and to lodge requests for outsourced print procurement such as offset jobs. Tenants have the ability to extend this service to include their on-floor print requirements.
Canon can also provide additional mail and courier support services, valet services for print devices, stationery management, meeting-room management, concierge/front-of-house services, kitchen management, and third-party supplier management (procuring milk or stationery, for example). Canon also has a range of digital mailroom solutions, including high-volume back scanning, and automated accounts-payable and robotic process automation.
